Fade In Awards | Top Hollywood Screenwriting Competition

The Fade In Screenwriting Fellowship provides three lucky winners with five intense days of mentorship from esteemed screenwriters and showrunners. Plus, all participating writers will receive support for a year as they advance their careers.

The Fade In Awards True Story/Biopic Competition is open to aspiring screenwriters and TV writers of screenplays and teleplays based on true stories, and filmmakers of web series and short films based on true stories. Judges are looking for award-worthy, prestige material featuring amazing minds doing amazing things, perhaps even misunderstood by society (e.g., The Imitation Game), and ironic stories about extraordinary lives (good and bad).

The Fade In Awards TV Pilot/Web Series Competition is open to aspiring TV writers of scripted one-hour, half-hour teleplays, limited series, mini series and movies-of-the-week, and filmmakers of completed (filmed) web series. All genres are welcome.

The Fade In Awards Short Script/Short Film/Short Story Competition is open to aspiring screenwriters of short screenplays and filmmakers of short films. Judges are looking for compelling stories featuring well-drawn characters that could easily translate to a feature film. All genres welcome.

The Fade In Awards Horror Competition is open to screenwriters and television writers, and filmmakers of both web series and short films. Judges are looking for elevated, high-concept stories, grounded in reality and character-driven, written in a unique voice or filmed with an eye for detail. Genre-benders welcome (e.g., Action-Horror, Supernatural-Horror, Psychological-Horror, Horror-Comedy, etc.).

The Fade In Awards Sci-Fi/Fantasy Competition is open to aspiring screenwriters and TV writers of screenplays and teleplays, in addition to filmmakers of both web series and short films. Judges look for mind-bending, high-concept stories set in undiscovered worlds or near-distant futures, grounded and character-driven, written in a unique voice or filmed with an attention for detail.

The Fade In Awards Comedy Competition is open to aspiring screenwriters and TV writers of screenplays and teleplays, and filmmakers of both web series and short films. Judges are looking for fresh, high-concept, humorous stories set in compelling, grounded worlds. Should be character-driven and written in a unique voice or filmed with an eye for detail. Genre-benders welcome (e.g., Romantic Comedy, Action Comedy, Dark Comedy, Dramedy, etc.).

The Fade In Awards Drama Competition is open to screenwriters and television writers of teleplays and screenplays, in addition to filmmakers of web series and short films. Judges look for original, infectious plots set in different worlds, with solid characters and crisp dialogue. Genre-benders welcome (e.g., Dramedy, Crime, Film Noir, Political, Family, Action, War, Western, etc.).

The Fade In Awards Thriller Competition is open to aspiring screenwriters and television writers of screenplays and teleplays, and filmmakers of both web series and short films. Judges are looking for compelling, genre-bending material (e.g., Psychological, Supernatural, Suspense, Political, Action, Tech) grounded, character-driven, elevated and written in a unique voice or filmed with an attention to detail.
