Phil began his writing career on In Living Color (1992-93) collaborating with the Wayans siblings, Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx. He also co-wrote 2000’s franchise- launching Scary Movie and was a writer/supervising producer on The Wayans Bros. (1995-99) and co-creator/co-executive producer of Nickelodeon’s hit series Cousin Skeeter (1998-2002). He co-wrote the spec scripts for the 1996 film Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood and 2001’s Not Another Teen Movie and recently executive produced his micro-budget Soul Santa (2021). Phil’s sold scripts, pitches and pilots to Disney, Paramount, DreamWorks, Fox, Warner Bros., Sony and many Independents. He’s also a credentialed instructor with the California Department of Education, has lectured on screenwriting at UCLA and USC film schools, and also volunteers with the Writers Guild Foundation’s Military Veterans Writing Project.
