Phil began his writing career on In Living Color (1992-93) collaborating with the Wayans siblings, Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx. He also co-wrote 2000’s franchise- launching Scary Movie and was a writer/supervising producer on The Wayans Bros. (1995-99) and co-creator/co-executive producer of Nickelodeon’s hit series Cousin Skeeter (1998-2002). He co-wrote the spec scripts for the 1996 film Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood and 2001’s Not Another Teen Movie and recently executive produced his micro-budget Soul Santa (2021). Phil’s sold scripts, pitches and pilots to Disney, Paramount, DreamWorks, Fox, Warner Bros., Sony and many Independents. Currently, he’s staffed on the new CBS series Poppa’s House. Phil’s also a credentialed instructor with the California Department of Education, has lectured on screenwriting at UCLA and USC film schools, and also volunteers with the Writers Guild Foundation’s Military Veterans Writing Project.
